Josiah Earp was born March 10, 1761 in Montgomery County,
Maryland, and married Ellender Hawker there about 1783. Ellender was born in
1765 in Maryland and died in 1835 in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Josiah died
there, at Somerset on November 25, 1844.
They had four children; Jemima married James Randol; Allen
M. is noted below; Eleanor married George Randol; Singleton married Rebecca
Herrin, and Hannah Brinson; and Anna married John Herrin.
Josiah helped to guard prisoners taken at the surrender of
Cornwallis during the American Revolution. He made application for pension on
November 18, 1833, and was residing in Pulaski County, Kentucky at that time.
The application shows that he was a resident of Montgomery County, Maryland,
when he entered the service in March of 1780. He served under Capt. John
Nichols and Lt. Thomas Nichols for 9 months, and was 72 years old when he
applied for his pension.
Pension record Rev. War S 31 004. He is listed in the DAR
Patriot Index 1966 on page 211.

Allen M. Earp
Mary “Polly” Stogsdill Earp
Allen M. Earp was born in 1798 in North Carolina, and
married Mary "Polly" Stogsdill on May 23, 1819 in Pulaski County,
Kentucky. Mary was born August 7, 1798 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, a daughter
of Vachel and Susannah Stogsdill. She and Allen had ten children, born in
Kentucky and Tennessee; Archibald; Susannah married John Wesley Scott; Ellander
"Well" married William Robert Batey, and Fielding Strawn; Ann A.
married Allan Woods, and John Wesley Scott; Catherine "Kate" married
Green B. Jerrold; John Wesley married Lenna White, and Martha, maiden name
unknown; Matilda Caroline "Lenney" married Sloman "Slo"
White, brother of Lenna; William Harrison married Narcissa Jane Boyle; Josiah
Allen "Joe" married Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Pirtle; and Mary
Ann “Polly” married James Hamilton “Jim” Montgomery.

Sloman
and Lenna White are children of Aden and Martha Patricia "Patsy"
Mount White of Bedford and Marshall Counties, Tennessee, and Polk County,
Arkansas. Their siblings can be found in "A Sample of
Arkansas Whites".
